Frequently Asked Questions

Earning Points

Q. How do I win game points?

A. Go to the Picks page. Click on the team you think will win and choose the margin you think the team will win by. If your winning team pick is correct you win 5 game points, if your winning margin is also correct you win a further 3 points. You do not win points for a correct margin if you get the winning team wrong.

Q. How do I pick a draw and how many points do I get?

A. To select a draw choose a margin of 0 in Your Picks. If you pick a draw correctly you will win double points - twice the standard points for the winning team and margin (a total of 16 points).

Q. How do I know my score?

A. Each Monday morning we will email you the game points you scored in the weekend and your new total score. Your score will also be recorded on your home page when you log into the site. This page is updated every Monday morning.

Q. How can I see my friends' scores?

A. From the Mates page you can see your Jimungo friends. To find more Jimungo mates, click on "manage mates list" and you will be able to search the Jimungo community for combinations of first name, last name, email address and player name. Any players you add to your Jimungo friends list will be accessible from all Jimungo titles.

You can also add friends from our list of celebrity Rugbyheads to see how you rate against the best in the business.

Q. Can I see Rugbyheads scores?

A. Yes. You can check the scores of the Rugbyheads and monitor their picks through the Rugbyheads page. You can also add celebrities to the Your Mates list for easier week-to-week tracking of their performance.

Q. When are the skysport.co.nz Virtual Rugby game results updated?

A. Match results will be posted onto the skysport.co.nz Virtual Rugby website after each game and your game points total will be updated on Monday morning. Full weekend results, including new leaderboards, will be available from Monday morning.

Q. My score and picks are wrong

A. We're very confident in our picks page and the way it records the picks you made.

To see the ones we have recorded for you, log in at www.virtualrugby.co.nz and go to the results page.

Here you'll see what you picked, what the result was, and where your points came from.

When you make your picks, you need to be absolutely certain you've pressed the "Save My Picks" button at the bottom of the page. It's this button that records the picks that you've made. After you click this button you will be taken to the picks confirmation page. When you have seen this page you can be confidant your picks are recorded.

We also have some "proof" systems in place - like emailing your picks or printing them. These are good to use so you can follow the games through the weekend, knowing what you've picked!

If you're absolutely sure you submitted picks other than what appears now on the scoreboard, and if you even have proof, we recommend you change your password. Someone may know your login details and has used them against you! We also recommend using the "log out" button after using the site - this can reduce the chances that someone can sabotage your picks.

Q. Can I join the competition after the season has started?

A. No problem. You can start playing skysport.co.nz Virtual Rugby at any time during the season.

Q. If I registered late, can I get starting points for the 1st rounds-weeks?

A. There are no points awarded to late-comers in the game. While we understand it can be frustrating to start "behind everyone", we don't give anyone a points boost at any time in the season.

We do award default picks twice during a season but only when you are registered.

Making Picks

Q. What is meant by "Margin"?

A. Margin is the difference in points between the winning score and the losing score. So if the Blues score 18 points and the Highlanders beat them with a score of 22 points, then the winning margin is 4 points. The margin choices for skysport.co.nz Virtual Rugby are 12 points or less, 13 points or more and 0 (a draw).

Q. Can I change my picks?

A. Yes. You can change your picks as many times as you like during the week up until 6.00pm on the close off day. Just make sure that each time you update your picks you hit the "Save My Picks" button at the bottom so that we receive the update.

Q. What happens if I'm entering my picks at exactly 6pm on the day the draw closes?

A. You must press the "Save My Picks" button for your picks by 6pm for your competition entry to be valid.

Q. What happens if I miss making my picks for a week?

A. No problem. Once you are registered, we'll automatically make your picks for you on the next two occasions you fail to get your picks in on time. Thereafter you're on your own and you'll need to get back in to keep the points flowing. Note that you do need to be a registered player to get this help.

Q. Can I make picks in advance?

A. You can make your picks up to two weeks at a time. From the picks page, select the next week’s tab and you can submit picks for the following week.

If you’re headed overseas, remember it only takes a few minutes to drop into an Internet cafe and make your picks there. It can be a good way to stay in touch with home! If this isn’t possible, you may want to lend your login details to a trusted friend, along with the picks to make for you each two week period. If you want to change your login for this time, it’s easily done from the Edit page (viewable after logging in).

Q. Can I see my friends' picks?

A. You can view your friends picks for previous weeks by clicking on their name on your mates page. You cannot see their current week's picks until after the round has closed. To see their picks after round close off, just click on their name on your Mates page.

Your mates can see exactly what you can see about your mates: First and last name, picks for every round that has closed, your rank, score and performance, your high-score and whether or not you have made picks for the current Round. They cannot see your email address, postal address or other contact information, but they can send you a message through Jimungo’s messaging system.

Technical Questions

Q. Can more than one person use the same email address?

A. No. New users must sign up with a unique email address - one registration per email address! If you have an existing registration that shares an email address with someone else, you can sign in and change the email address we have recorded for you.

Q. Can I register in the game more than once?

A. Absolutely. There is no limit on the number of times you can enter in the competition (although you can still only register one account on each email address).

Q. I forgot my password

A. We've set up a special page to help remind players of their login details. Head your browser to: http://www.virtualrugby.co.nz/forgotDetails.aspx

From here, enter your email address and playername or password and we'll send you a link to change your password. If you've forgotten your playername AND your password, write back to us and we'll see what we can do.

Q. Why can’t I login into the site?

A. There are a few factors that may be preventing you from logging in.

If you are using Internet Explorer version 6 (you can find if you are on IE6 by going to "help" and choosing "about"), you will need to add this site to your trusted zones. To do this, drop down the "Tools" menu, go to the "Security" tab and add us to your Trusted Sites. More instructions on how to do this can be found here: http://surfthenetsafely.com/ieseczone7.htm.

Another workaround is to log in at this URL:
http://jimungo.com/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=http://virtualrugby.jimungo.com

Firstly, you should be absolutely sure of your playername and password. We can email this to you from this link: http://virtualrugby.co.nz/forgotDetails.aspx

Make sure you enter your details exactly as they are - case sensative! Be careful as you enter them into the login boxes – this will solve most login troubles!

If you can get in this way, we recommend going to the Edit Registration Details page and changing your password details to something easy to remember.

If you don’t log in this way, there are a number of things to try.

Your browser configuration may be preventing you from logging in or opening pop up windows. If you’re using Internet Explorer, drop down the Tools menu, select Internet Options, go to the Privacy tab and set the level to medium. Apply the changes, close the browser and open it again (this ensures the changes take effect). Try the site again after you’ve done this. Medium privacy is a safe level for normal Internet browsing, and it allows our site to recognize your browser correctly.

Another issue that may be preventing your access, could be a third party application that adds certain features to your browser. This could be a popup blocker, advertising protector, or some other plug-in. If applicable, try disabling any such software while logging in.

If none of these are working for you and you’re willing to try another browser, try Firefox from www.getfirefox.com

Q. How can I change my details?

A. You can change your registered details by visiting the Edit Registration Details page. You can alter your name, email address, password, and any other information you provided at registration on this page.

Of course, you must be logged on to edit your details!
